Stereochrist - Dead River Blues
Country: Hungary Genre: Doom Metal, Stoner/Sludge Metal

Stereochrist are one of the few bands hailing from the Hungarian capital Budapest. As such, obviously there are no preconceived ideas of how they should sound. Briefly named Super Natural, Stereochrist was formed after a few members left the doom metal band Mood, which had previously issued four albums. Dead River Blues represents Stereochrist's first full length and it's energetic stoner rock with obvious nods to late career Trouble and more upbeat Black Sabbath.
Right from the start, Dead River Blues rocks with energy and groove. Although vocalist Felfoldi Peter doesn't have the upper range pipes of Eric Wagner, musically Stereochrist have a lot in common with Manic Frustration or the self titled Trouble albums. Stereochrist keep the groove going through until the seventh track ("Supersorrow") which enters Black Label Society's acoustic territory. What is probably most enjoyable about Stereochrist is the guitar riffs of Hegyi Kolos as his playing is always infectious and energetic. It's these riffs which elevate Dead River Blues from average stoner rock to a must have for fans of the genre. This is the second killer rock band coming from Arctic Music, I just hope we get that second Burner record soon.
