| GB:Greetings
from Greece and gongrats for your new album!
Stereochrist: Thanks man! We’re glad you like it! Hail to the Greek
friends!
GB:Stereochrist.Tell us the reason you
chose that name and what is the meaning?
Stereochrist: The whole idea came up by our first singer, Peter: if Jesus
lived these days, he'd need a big stereo amplification to be heard. Honestly
we just needed a name... :)
GB:Give us your take on the heavy music
scene in Hungary... What was your main obstacle during these years of
existence?
Stereochrist: It’s hard to find good things to tell you about the
scene here. It’s a little country filled with a lot of good bands
(mainly hardcore and old school metal bands) but it’s really hard
to call it a scene coz most of them are hustling and jockeying while smiling
in you face. Our main obstacle is that we are not able to do it that way.
We’re jus not that characters so it’s not easy to get on.
That’s why we move slow. Of course you can find respectable guys
here working hard.
GB:I find a touch of hardcore (in vocals)
or sometimes southernish in your music.Rather strange for a doom metal
band, but quite interesting.
Stereochrist: First of all we’re not a real doom band, although
our music contains doom elements. It’s a mixture of southern metal,
doom, and metal that’s all. I don’t feel the vocals as aggressive
as in HC, it’s just masculine, but the southern impression is right,
one of my biggest vocal influences are country and folk singers.
GB:The name and art of “Live like
a man” begs the question. Why the 2 opposites? “live…die?”
and why the choice in cover art?
Stereochrist: It’s about my ideals. They are all from my family.
I saw them living and I saw them dying. they were real men in life and
gods in death.
We wanted the cover art to be as simple as it can be. We almost run out
of time so the lady who made the booklet had two short days to make it.
We didn’t have exact plan for it we just felt we need something
strong, and that gargoyle seemed perfect for it. The title and the cover
is not in close relationship they just fit good.
GB:If someone held a knife to your throat
and demanded musical influences, how would you answer?
Stereochrist: Well there are different personal influences as our drummer
Csaba only listens to jazz not even rock. But the band together has obvious
influences like Down, Pantera, Crowbar, Zakk Wylde’s stuff, Led
Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Brand New Sin and so on.
GB:Thanks for the interview. Any last
words for us?
Stereochrist: Thank you for the inquiry! We hope we meet you guys soon!
