STEREOCHRIST: “Live Like A Man (Die As A God)”
( psycheDOOMelic – Clearspot)

Stereochrist are definitely a heavy band that sounds similar to Down, COC, Halfway to Gone, Metallica,….. They sludge their way through these songs, while the singer rips loose a vitriolic anger. This is a down tuned CD, where only from time to time does the band get faster than a Sabbath-like gallop and crawl.
The most prominent feature of Hungarian’s Stereochrist’s sound besides Anselmo-like vocals is the demonic bass, which roars somewhere between the earth-shaking rumble of 16 and the dirty rattle of EyeHateGod. The painfully fuzzy guitar is right behind it, with the powerhouse drumming moving everything along. This is no doom band, make no mistake.
Some of the riffs and vocal lines are good, others are entirely forgettable; overall “Live like a man (die as a God)” is a decent album, but fails to impress and differentiate itself from so much that’s already sludging up the airwaves.
