STEREOCHRIST - DEAD RIVER
BLUES - ARCTIC
Tell me about it! Stereochrist... who?
Apparently formed by the former members of the band Mood and previously
called Super Natural, this Hungarian band's debut shiny round music circle
showcases an act bridging the gap between Trouble and Soundgarden circa
Louder Than Love. The band has a clear doom metal tinge, but the Sabbathy
inspiration doesn't last into Sunday. That is, the doom is diluted with
rock, hard rock and straight ahead balladry. The sound is good and the
act has its, er, act together. The sole reservation lies within the vocals
of the band's frontman. While his voice is suitable and strong, his sporadic
screams are scratchy and grating. The screams are infrequent though and
not a deterrent in the big picture. The band does not shy away from throwing
the odd surprise riff or just rocking out every once in a while either
which is the way it should be. 'Who?' no more! - Ali "The Metallian"
